Congratulations to Sebastian Fernández, EE PhD candidate 2025, for being named the winner of the 2024 University of Washington, Department of Chemical Engineering Distinguished Young Scholars Seminar Series. He was selected by both University of Washington Chemical Engineering faculty members and graduate students as the top speaker for his seminar titled, "Enabling Perovskite Semiconductors for a Brighter, Safer, and Efficient World.”
Sebastian was selected as one of eight invited faculty candidate speakers from across various chemical engineering-related research fields. Sebastian’s research aims to enable emissive perovskite semiconductors in both the visible and ultraviolet spectrums for next-generation light-emitting technologies.
Sebastian conducts his research within the Congreve Lab led by Professor Dan Congreve.
The 14th Annual Distinguished Young Scholars Seminar Series was hosted by the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington. Top postdocs and Ph.D. students from across the country are invited to participate in a mock faculty interview, present a research seminar, and network with students and faculty.
